As part of your entry into the Workplace Awards, Humankind will run their 'Employee Experience (EX) Discovery' process within your organisation.

 

What is an EX Discovery?

There are two components:

Employee Experience Survey A 30 question 'pulse length' survey that gives all your employees a chance to share their perspectives.

Leader & Employee Interviews A series of longer, more in depth 1:1 interviews with a selection of your people, taking place across 1-2 days.

What do you get?

  • Online EX survey reporting from our survey partner Joyous.
  • A customised written report summarising insights about your current EX and recommendations. Delivered 2-3 weeks after your interviews are complete.
  • A debrief with the Humankind EX Consultant who conducted the interviews.
  • Exposure to Humankind's Employee-Centred Design methodology, including the 4 types of EX.
  • The opportunity to scale-up your EX Discovery, adding more interviews or workshops.
  • The chance to win an Award!
 

Key Dates 2019

1 Apr-30 Aug Register your organisation to participate in the Workplace Awards. Registrations close Friday 30 August 2019.
3 Jun-20 Sep Survey period. Survey when you're ready, any time within this timeframe. Humankind will work with you to plan your interview day(s), generally 2-4 weeks in advance.
14 Nov Awards announcement and event to share key insights.

How the Interviews Work

To ensure best value, we have planned to conduct your interviews across one or two days, depending on your organisation size.

We will randomly select interviewees, and appreciate in advance the work you do putting together the schedule of interviews. Interviews may be in-person (Auckland and Wellington), or via video or phone call. We may be able to travel for in-person interviews outside Auckland and Wellington, with travel time costs and disbursements applicable. We encourage you to read more about the process in our FAQs.

Want to enhance the insights from your EX Discovery?

Your participation in the Workplace Awards already includes a survey with online reporting, a number of interviews, and a customised EX Insights and Recommendations report with debrief. To gain maximum benefit from your participation, we recommend considering 'scaling-up' your EX Discovery to ensure more robust insights, or a more informed and motivated Executive Leadership Team (ELT).

Add extra interviews

Add extra half or full days to the EX Discovery process. These interviews will generally be phone-based. Please contact Humankind to discuss; for large or highly diverse organisations you may wish to add multiple days.

Add ELT kickoff workshop

‘Employee experience’ terminology may be relatively new to you and your senior/executive leaders. A 2 hour kickoff workshop for your Executive Leadership Team (ELT) will firstly introduce the group to the fundamentals, including the mindset of Employee-Centred Design, the 4 types of EX (Purpose, Relationship, Enabling, and Performance experiences), how employee engagement fits in with EX, and design thinking for EX.

The second part of the workshop will be devoted to capturing leader perspectives of your current employee experience – this allows us to compare and contrast leader and employee perspectives in our EX Discovery report, identifying blindspots and misconceptions. The session is 2 hours.

Add ELT debrief workshop

While a Q&A-style report debrief is included as part of a standard EX Discovery, an Executive Leadership Team (ELT) debrief workshop is designed to work with a larger group, driving towards priority identification and opportunity ownership. Your EX Discovery report will be provided in advance for pre-reading, and the session will be devoted to team Q&A, prioritisation, and next steps. The session is 2 hours.

If we have not previously worked with your ELT, we will also include our EX Fundamentals presentation, where we introduce the group to the mindset of Employee-Centred Design, the 4 types of EX (Purpose, Relationship, Enabling, and Performance experiences), how employee engagement fits in with EX, and design thinking for EX.
